about
Kin Things blends ancient philosophies of Yoga and Mindfulness with modern well-being to foster joyful, playful and restful ways of feeling more connected.
These practices are for everybody and all bodies. The beginner and expert, the stiff and bendy back, the solo flower and the community builder, those seeking rest and those seeking fire. There are no prerequisites to our sessions, other than to have a body and an openness for play and exploration.
Kin Things grew as a response to a growing mental health and climate crisis. To nurture our inner resources and navigate life’s landscapes with joy, ease and playfulness. These things can bring a lot of hope in the face of challenges - be they big, small, emotional, ecological, individual or collective.
In our grounded and accessible approach, we encourage movement as a means to unwind, release and raise our awareness.
Come along to move, play and explore. Express yourself through your body. Ground yourself and find your unique rhythm.
our story
Shóna Slemon Founder
Meet Shóna, a nature-loving soul from rural Ireland who founded Kin Things to explore how movement and intention can support a global mental health and climate crisis.
Rural Irish storytelling traditions and language shaped Shóna’s nature-connection from a young age. This plus influences from global Indigenous and rural wisdom, ecological theory and Mindfulness practices were the seeds Kin Things grew from.
Inspired by the practices of Somatics and Embodiment, we approach movement as a pathway to promote personal, community and climate joy.
Our mission is to find more things to be joyful about in frequently challenging times - and to start with ourselves and most simply, our bodies.
Kin Things embraces self-care as an act of collective care. By taking care of yourself, you show up with more care for the rest of your life. Time spent with our inner worlds, reflects with impact on our outer worlds - and that’s time well spent in our opinion.
